PREP ROUNDUP: Botkins girls make state cross country poll

BOTKINS — Coming off a victory at the Columbus Grove Invitational last Saturday, the Botkins Trojans girls cross country team is ranked 13th in the latest Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches Division III state poll.
Botkins received 50 points in the poll, which was led by Minster in first and Coldwater in second.
The Trojans are back in action Saturday morning at 9 at Spencerville.

BOYS SOCCER
Bath 2, Wapak 0
BATH TOWNSHIP — Connor Rockhold and Garrett Renner scored goals to lead the Wildcats past Wapak in a Western Buckeye League match on Thursday.
Bath outshot the Redskins 15-5 overall and 10-2 on-goal.
Wapak goalkeeper Zach Holtzapple had eight saves.

Botkins 6, New Knox. 1
BOTKINS — The Trojans outshot New Knoxville17-5 to cruise to the win on Thursday.

GIRLS SOCCER
LCC 3, Wapak 1
The Thunderbirds handed Wapak the defeat Thursday at Ryan Field.
Sara Warner scored the Redskins’ lone goal. LCC outshot Wapak 19-13.

Lehman 3, Botkins 0
SIDNEY — Lehman Catholic blanked the Trojans on Thursday in Sidney.

O-G 166, Wapak 169
OTTAWA — The Titans pulled out the win on a soggy Thursday.
“Even though we lost, I thought we played well under those conditions and playing on their course,” Wapak coach Ken Wayman said. “We did have some big number holes that hurt us early in the match but I give a lot of credit to our players because they battled back and made it a very close match.”
Leading the way waas Caleb Acheson with a 37, which was good enough for second place overall.
Drew Wayman carded a 43 to tie third. Bobby Crow tied for fourth overall. Aaron Johnson had a 45, followed by Josh Apple (46) and Nick Buchanan (56).
Wapak is 3-3 and O-G is 4-2.

Botkins 168, Jackson Center 192
BOTKINS — The Trojans defeated Jackson Center in a home match on Thursday.
Leading Botkins were Adam Bornhorst (40), Nate Cisco (41), Connor Bornhorst (42), Cory Kies (45), Nick Okuley (49) and Seth Hanna (52).
