The Wapakoneta Police Department is stepping up its enforcement efforts regarding unauthorized vehicles driving through the construction zone on West Auglaize Street, Wapakoneta Police Chief Russel Hunlock said Friday.

Hunlock said the only traffic allowed in the construction zone is workers and residents living in the affected area. Drivers who do not meet this criteria and are caught driving in the construction zone may be subject to a ticket.

"We have been trying to work with motorists in regard to giving warnings out, but we will start issuing citations soon given the amount of motorists driving on the closed roadway," Hunlock said.
