Paul Schumacher, 74
Paul L. Schumacher, 74, 07947 Southland Road, New Knoxville, died at 1:45 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at the Golden Living Center.
He was born Sept. 22, 1938, in New Weston, the son of Gertrude (Guggenbiller) and Oscar Schumacher. On Oct. 20, 1962, he married Janice Schrolucke, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by two daughters, Lorraine (John) Kridner, of Goodyear, Ariz., and Jenette (Marty) Stauffer, of Wapakoneta; two grandsons, Casey Stauffer and Coy Stauffer; three sisters, Esther Zizelman, of Rockford, Alice (Jack) Provci, of Rockford, and Wilma (Ken) Paysen, of Tegacay, S.C.; and six sisters-in-law, Helen Schumacher, of Foley, Ala., Dorothy Prueter, of New Knoxville, Grace Young, of St. Marys, Mary (Carl W.) Schmehl, of St. Marys, Kathryn Schrolucke, of New Knoxville, and Gwen Schrolucke, of Dayton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Schumacher; his mother, Gertrude Schumacher Leist; a brother, Ralph Schumacher; and five brothers-in-law, George Zizeman, Aaron Schrolucke, Charles Schrolucke, James Prueter and James Young.
He attended Celina High School and retired from Stamco Corporation in New Bremen after 35 years of service. He had also worked at Shively Plasterers and Wolff’s Tire Service, in Celina.
He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, in New Knoxville, where he had served as an Elder and Deacon. He also helped pack boxes for servicemen through Operation New Knoxville Cares. He had served in the Ohio National Guard.
He was a member of the Moulton Gun Club and served on the board of Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. He liked to read, hunt and fish.
Funeral rites are to be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Church of Christ, in New Knoxville, with the Rev.Dr. David Williams officiating. Burial is to follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Heritage Room at the church.
Memorial gifts may be given to either Operation New Knoxville Cares, Moulton Gun Club or the Auglaize County Cancer Association.
