Paul Brown, 80

Paul B. Brown, 80, of rural Wapakoneta, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Auglaize Acres in Wapakoneta.
He was born Feb. 13, 1933, in Auglaize County, the son of Alodia (Oen) and Roy J. Brown, who preceded him in death. On June 14, 1961, he married Ruth E. Poeppelman, and she survives.
Also surviving are six children, Mark Brown, of Wapakoneta, Linus (Vonda) Brown, of Anna, Lois (Jerry) Davis, of Wapakoneta, Barbara Brown, of Wapakoneta Douglas Brown, of Wapakoneta and Jerome Brown, of Wapakoneta; two grandchildren, Jacob Davis and Caleb Davis; and 12 siblings, Anthony (Dorothy) Brown, of St. Marys, Francis (Ruth) Brown, of Wapakoneta, Fr. Harold Brown, of Bellevue, Alvin Brown, of New Bremen, Mary Yahl, Botkins, Ann Leinweber, of New Bremen, Agnes (Cletus) Schmerge, of LaSalle, Colo., Fr. Joseph Brown, of Carthagena, John (Pamela) Brown, of Celina, David (Jeannette) Brown, of St. Marys, Dr. Virgil (Mary Ellen) Brown, of Wapakoneta, and Theresa (Richard) Ramga, of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Ruth Brown; and two brothers-in-law, William Yahl and Richard Leinweber.
Paul retired as a mechanic from Koenig Equipment in Botkins after more than 40 years service. He had also worked at the Detjen Grain Co. in Moulton. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, and its Holy Name Society. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was stationed in Alaska. His hobbies included gardening, mowing, tinkering and caring for others before himself.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Harold Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Wapakoneta, where military rites will be conducted by the Wapakoneta V.F.W. Post 8445.
The family will receive from 2 to 5 & 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
