Patsy L. Maurer, 86

Patsy L. Maurer, 86, of Sidney, passed away Saturday evening, Feb. 1, 2014 at The Pavilion, Sidney. 
She was born in Botkins to the late Urban T. and Sylvia (Zimpfer) Kennedy on July 19, 1927.  She married Walter Philip Maurer, Jr. on May 11, 1946 in Botkins and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2008.  Patsy was also preceded in death by brothers, Donald and Robert Kennedy; a son-in-law, John Thomas; two great-grandchildren, Jade Thomas and M.J. Thomas and a grandson-in-law, Patrick Clerkin.

 Patsy was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Montra and had previously been a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Botkins and the Indian Lake Community Church in Russells Point.  She was a homemaker and was a bookkeeper for the family business.  Patsy was very active in her community, including the Botkins Historical Society.  She was very talented musically and a gifted organist and pianist.  Patsy also enjoyed writing poetry, especially for her children and grandchildren.  She was also an artist, and enjoyed painting on various mediums.  A very compassionate person, she loved her family and took pleasure in spending summers at the lake.

Patsy is survived by her children, Steven (Amy) Maurer of Bexley, Cheri (Joe) Davis of Montra, Martha Thomas of Jackson Center, Mary (Mark) Koenig of Montra, Ellen (Jerry) Sawmiller of Moulton and Ann (Bill) Allenbaugh of Sidney; 14 grandchildren:  Jennifer Clerkin, Annelise Maurer and Sylvia Maurer, Joe “JP” Davis, Jessi (Monty) Eyink, Katie (Brad) Zwiebel, Caleb (Christen) Thomas, Zeb Thomas, Nathan (Christie) Koenig, Josh Koenig, Madeline (Nick) Frankenhauser, Mike (Amy) Sawmiller, Thomas Allenbaugh and Elizabeth Allenbaugh; 10 great-grandchildren, Lana  Wilkins and Raelyn “Frankie”  Munyan, Evan and Jordan Eyink, Ian Zwiebel, Hailey Brewer, Dawson and Sawyer Thomas, and Nolan and Ethan Frankenhauser; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Jackson Center, on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 from 4-8 p.m.  Pastor Shannon Vogelezang will officiate funeral services on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Botkins at 11 a.m. where visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral.  Burial will be at a later date in Loramie Valley Cemetery.
