Norman Binkley, 64, of 118 S. Wagner Street in Wapakoneta, died 10:16 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born June 11, 1949, in Lima to Byron and Marian (Merricle) Binkley.
Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Goins, of Celina; a son, Paul (Tina) Binkley, of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Julie Binkley, of New Knoxville; and niece, Connie (Allen) Schroer,Â of New Knoxville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Marian Binkley; and his brother, James âMikeâ Binkley.
He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and completed college coursework in automotive technology.
A sergeant first class in the United States Army, he worked as the readiness NCO at St. Marys Armory for a number of years.
He also worked as a mechanic at B & B Auto in Wapakoneta and Jerry Lear Ford dealership in St. Marys. More recently, he worked as a bartender and maintenance technician at the Wapakoneta Eagles.
He was a member of American Legion Post 330, VFW Post 8445 and Eagles Lodge Aerie 691, all in Wapakoneta.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys.
Private family graveside services, with full military honors, will take place at Dayton Nation Cemetery in Dayton.
In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Putnam Co. Hospice.
