Mildred Swaidner, 96

Mildred A. “Millie” Swaidner, 96, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Green Hill Care Center in West Liberty.
Millie was born Dec. 8, 1916, in Bellevue, Pa., the daughter of the late Mary (Pitzer) and J. Clyde Amon. On April 4, 1941, in Pennsylvania, she married Arthur W. Swaidner, and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1998.
Surviving are a son, James A. (Renda) Swaidner, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Jo Anne (Stephen) Snyder, of Bellefontaine; two sisters, Helen A. Bright, of Fallbrook, Calif., and Mary Jane (Harry) Sheppard, of Hermitage, Pa.; five grandchildren, Eric (Claire) Swaidner, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Jeremy Swaidner, of Moscow, Russia, Ashley (Mark) Gonzales, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lori (Brian) Salyer, of Bellefontaine, and Luke (Marcie) Snyder, of Bellefontaine; five great-grandchildren, Jared Salyer, Jacob Salyer, Ethan Swaidner, Madison Snyder, and Lauren Gonzales; three step-great-grandchildren, Jason Jones, Alicia Cunningham, and Kayla Cunningham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Swaidner; two brothers; and two sisters.
Millie resided in Wapakoneta for 50 years, during which she was active in the Wapakoneta Women’s Club, Junior Service League, Helen Hunt Circle and was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she loved singing in the choir. After the death of her husband, she moved to Bellefontaine where she became a member of the First United Presbyterian Church. For the last six years of Millie’s life she has resided at the Green Hills Community in West Liberty, where she was fairly active making many new friends – they were her West Liberty “family.”
Services are at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Green Hills Community Chapel in West Liberty. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the chapel.
Contributions may be made to the Green Hills Life Enrichment Program, 6555 US 68 South, West Liberty, or the Sunshine Children’s Home, 7223 Maumee Western Road, Maumee.
Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine is handling arrangements.
