Mary Van Etten, 89

Mary E. “Nana” Van Etten, 89, of Van Wert, died at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
She was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of Blanche M. (Bryan) and Adrian M. Meier. She married Thomas D. Van Etten Jr., who preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Thomas (Trudy) Webster, of Van Wert; two daughters, Sharon (Walter) Poling, of Van Wert, and Patricia (Kraig) Shafer, of Cairo; a sister, Drusilda (Terry) Kah, of Findlay; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Meier, of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren; 24 great- and step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert. She had worked at Aeroquip Corporation in Van Wert for 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, was a lifelong knitter, and enjoyed traveling and dancing with her husband in her younger days.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Will Haggis officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert or 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Contributions can be given to the church or the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
