Mark J. Schaub, 56, of Wapakoneta, died at 7:40 a.m., Monday, June 16, 2014, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, in Columbus, following a sudden illness. He was born April 2, 1958, in Lima, the son of Raymond U. and Helen Louise (Elliott) Schaub, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his partner of 30 years, John “Jay” Miller, in Wapakoneta.
Other survivors include, siblings, Kathy “Snookie” (Mike) Parker and Tom (Peg) Schaub, both of Paradise, Calif., Mike (Joyce) Schaub, Rosie Lee, Millie Schaub and Charlotte (Amy) Schaub, all of Wapakoneta, and Darla (Dan) Carter, of South Bend, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Carol Schaub, of Madeira, Fla,; Jay’s siblings, Shirley (Dave) Lenhart, Sr., Sheila (Jim) Morris, Brenda (Dave) Greve, Jeff Miller, Sr. and Mary Spatch, Bernie Miller, Jr., all of Wapakoneta, and Janice Wehrman and Carl Schlegel, of Lima; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Schaub; a nephew, Scott Schaub; a great- nephew, Talon Lee; and Jay’s parents, Bernard I. and Betty J. (Ray) Miller.
Mark worked as an estimator with Homan, Inc., in Maria Stein, Ohio. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #691, in Wapakoneta. He enjoyed gardening and “playing in the dirt."
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2014, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, state Route 501, Wapakoneta. Pastor Becky Sunday will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home, where an Eagles memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Burial of his cremated remains will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens, near Moulton. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
