Marilyn JoAnn Herman, 80

Marilyn JoAnn Herman, 80, of Las Vegas, Nev., passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at her group home in Las Vegas. JoAnn was born Nov. 8, 1933, in Seymour, Ind., the daughter of Edward and Constance (Connie) Hughes. 

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Connie Hughes, her first husband, Donald Herman, son, Matthew, and second husband, Irvin Geeslin. Survivors include her sons, Stephen, Greg and Mark Herman, daughter, Julie Nourish, and grandchildren, Heather, Taylor and Max Herman, Sean and Michael Herman, Carley Garcia and Stephanie Herman and Chelsea Nourish. 

JoAnn graduated from Jackson Center Public High School in 1952 as class salutatorian. After raising her family in Waynesfield, Ohio, she entered into civil service at the Granville, Ohio Public Library where she retired after 25 years of service. During this time she married her second husband, Irvin Geeslin, in Newark, Ohio in 1996. She then developed a special relationship with Gene Bailey from Heath, Ohio. He helped her recover from Irv's loss. He remained a steadfast friend and visited her many times after she moved to Las Vegas. 

JoAnn will always be remembered for her wit, charm, loving nature, empathy, patience, beauty and beneficence. She was the best mom, wife and friend anyone could have and will be truly missed.
