Man found dead in Fryburg

March 9, 2013

Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office deputies and BCI&I examine the scene where a man was found dead.

Deputies with the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office and investigators with the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI&I) responded to a Fryburg home where a 60-year-old male was found dead early Friday morning.

Deputies were dispatched to the residence in the village, approximately 5 miles southeast of Wapakoneta, at 8:30 a.m. to check on the man when they discovered the man was dead. Crews left the scene at approximately 6 p.m. Friday, but Sheriff Al Solomon said the death is still under investigation.

Solomon said deputies were alerted of a possible concern with the man and conducted a wellness check. The sheriff explained the coroner was called to the residence, but no determination could be made on how the man died.

“When there is a death and until the cause of death can be determined by the coroner, it is standard protocol to collect all possible evidence,” Solomon said. “My deputies are working diligently regarding this incident and they are working very well with the investigators from BCI to put things together to determine what happened.”

He said deputies were still contacting family members at press time.

More information will be made available at a future time.
