Man burned at factory
A man working second shift at a Wapakoneta factory Friday night was transported by Life Flight after receiving severe burns.
The 51-year-old employee was burnt by boiling water while working at General Aluminum, 13663 Short Road, Wapakoneta, shortly after 7 p.m., according to local scanner traffic from the Wapakoneta Police and Wapakoneta EMS.
The man, whose family had not yet been identified, suffered what was described as second-degree burns to between 50 and 60 percent of his body.
The Life Flight helicopter had to land in a field south of the factory to pick up the man for transportation to Miami Valley Hospital, in Dayton.
Scanner traffic from Life Flight personnel indicated that the man’s entire back side, arms and a lower leg were burned by the water.
A full report will be published in the Wapakoneta Daily News next week once more information is available.
