Local war vet to be inducted

November 5, 2013

Kuffner

With Veterans Day approaching, Auglaize County has one more reason to be proud of its military heroes — a local veteran is to be honored by the state for his community achievements.
World War II Navy veteran John “Jack” Kuffner will be one of 15 Ohio veterans inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame from the class of 2013.
Veterans and their families will be presented with a medal and plaque signifying they are a member of the Hall of Fame.
Auglaize County Veterans Service Office Manager Suzie White said Kuffner was nominated because of the many contributions he made to Auglaize County throughout his lifetime.
“This particular organization honors veterans — not about their military service — but about their community involvement after they get out of the military,” White said.
