Laura Bitzinger, 86, of Holland, formerly of Liberty Center, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Spring Meadows Extended Care.
Laura was born July 23, 1926, in Ridgeville Corners, to Clara (Hasemeier) and Henry Rosebrock. She met and married Paul Bitzinger, in Ft. Wayne, Ind. Dec. 21, 1946, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1971.
Surviving are four children, Christine (Dr. Barry, D.D.S.) Aab, Marlene (Chet) Blair, Douglas (Alice) Bitzinger, and Robin Bitzinger; nine grandchildren, Steven (Nikki) Aab, Daniel Aab, Carol Bitzinger, Michelle Bitzinger, Christopher Bitzinger, Samantha Bitzinger, Holly (Paul) McNerney, Brian (Amanda) Bitzinger, and Eric Bitzinger; four great-grandchildren, Lukas Aab, Braydan Aab, Ilina Bitzinger, and Ellie McNerney; a sister, Henrietta Libey; a brother, Henry (Mary) Rosebrock Jr.
She was preceded in death by son, Michael; three sisters, Esther Rosebrock, Frieda Oehmke and Clara Reynolds; three brothers, Alvin “Rosy” Rosebrock, Frederick Rosebrock, and Carl Rosebrock; and daughter-in-law, Marcella “Sally” Bitzinger.
A member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Laura was very active in many Church activities. She was also a member of the Liberty Center VFW wife’s club, former Grey Lady for Heller Memorial Hospital in Napoleon, served as council person at large for the Luther Woods Apartments and was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts in Liberty Center. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Neville Funeral Home 7438 Airport Highway in Holland. Burial will follow at Young Cemetery in Liberty Center.
Friends may call from 3to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
