Joan E. Orchard, 74

Joan E. Orchard, 74, of Wapakoneta, died at 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima. She was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Covington, Ky., the daughter of Ralph T. and Margaret B. (Boone) Knipper, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 15, 1958, she married Robert D. “Bob” Orchard, Sr., and he survives.

Other survivors include, four children, Kim (Eric) Oen, of Wapakoneta, Lori Powell, of Alabama, Bobbie (Ray) Dunlap, of Mooresville, N.C., and Robert D. (Denise) Orchard, Jr., of Cincinnati; six grandsons, Ryan Oen, Eric J. Oen, Jr. and fiancée Brooke Schneider, Drew (Brianne) Oen, Bradley Powell, Nathan Powell and Dean Orchard; two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Jack Oen; and three siblings, Carol (Ollie) Wilbers, Ralph E. (Joyce) Knipper and Karen (Larry) Stayonvich.

Joan worked at the Auglaize Antique Mall. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #691, Auxiliary, Wapakoneta, and a graduate of the Auglaize Local Township High School in Harrod, Ohio. She loved sports and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. She also supported her grandsons by attending their sporting events.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at the Long & Folk Chapel of the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 13 S. Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta, with Pastor Steven Nelson officiating. Burial is to follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Rita’s Hospice.
