Jean Walter, 89

Jean M. (Sibert) Walter, 89, of Wapakoneta, died at 9:54 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System, following a brief illness.
She was born on Jan. 11, 1924, in Wapakoneta, to Revella (Ott) and Charles Lyman “Bronc” Sibert. An only child, Jean attended Parlette School and Blume High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aldo B. “Pete” Walter, to whom she was married in 1940; a son, Robert J. Walter; an infant daughter, Rose Marie; and a grandson, Tommy Walter.
The mother of nine children, she is survived by Carol S. (Richard) Gossard, of Naples, Fla. Mary A. (James) Joseph, of Tierra Verde, Fla., James R. Walter, of Minnesota, Michael A. (Judy) Walter, of Wapakoneta, Stephen C. (Gail) Walter, of Wapakoneta, Thomas C. (Mary) Walter, of Sidney, and Edward A. (Rachel) Walter, of San Diego, Calif; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Jean worked in the family business, Wapak Recreation Lanes. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta.
