James L. “Jamie” Copus, 50

James L. “Jamie” Copus, 50, of Wapakoneta, died at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. He went home to be with the Lord with his family by his side. He was born Oct. 13, 1963, in Lima, the son of Sonja M. (Davis) Copus and Leonard W. Copus. His mother survives in Rockford, Mich. and his father and step-mother, Leonard (Bobbie) Copus, survive in Byrdstown, Tenn. On May 13, 2006, he married Rebecca S. Wireman, and she survives.

Other survivors include, four children, Zechariah and Jeremiah Tippie, both at home, Lyndsy (Josh) McNamara, of Columbus Grove, Ohio, and James L.E. (Michelle) Copus, of Bucyrus, Ohio; two step-children, Jennifer Leighty, of Quincy, Ohio, and Brenton Karbowiak, of Delaware, Ohio; three grandchildren, Clayton James McNamara, Tyler Douglas Copus and Dalton Joseph McNamara; two brothers, Leonard W. (Colleen) Copus, II, of Rockford, Mich., and Daniel H. (Kim Duty) Copus, of Wapakoneta; a mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lynn and Patricia Tingler, of Wapakoneta; a father-in-law, Wayne (Kim) Wireman, of Lakeview, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Shawn Ickes, of Wapakoneta.

He was preceded in death by a wife, Sheryl (Woten) Copus, a former wife, Tracy Loyer Greve, his grandparents, and his step-daughter, Candace Newland.

Jamie worked as a supervisor at Plastipak in Jackson Center for 30 years. He was a member of the Evening Light Tabernacle of Wapakoneta, and a 1982 graduate of Wapakoneta High School. He loved the Lord and spending time with his grandchildren. His other hobbies included fishing, hunting and grilling out.  

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, state Route 501, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Stephan Coressel officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, and one hour ahead of the funeral on Friday.
