Helen E. Ambos, 89

Helen E. Ambos, 89, of Botkins, died at 4:05 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at the Dorothy Love Nursing Home, Sidney. She was born April 2, 1924, the daughter of Roy O. and Laura (Schumann) Metz, who preceded her in death. On June 30, 1946, she married Don W. Ambos, and he died Dec. 10, 2009.

Survivors include, a son, Craig (Doris) Ambos, Botkins; a daughter, Karen (Ed) Green, Sidney; four grandchildren, Joel (Ashley) McLain, New Orleans, La., Tonya (Chad) Slonaker, Sidney, Lisa Gregory, Sidney, Eric Ambos, Botkins; two great-grandchildren, Rileigh McLain and Marian Gregory; a brother, Victor Metz, DeGraff, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Metz, and a sister-in-law, Janice Metz.

Mrs. Ambos retired as a secetary from the Botkins Schools. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Botkins. She enjoyed crocheting.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Botkins, with Pastor Bob Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Loramie Valley Cemetery, Botkins. Family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m., Friday, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, state Route 501, Wapakoneta, and one hour prior to the service at the church, Saturday.

Memorial may be directed to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Botkins Schools, or the Botkins Volunteer Fire Department.
