H. Jeffrey Harrod, 44, died Monday morning, Feb. 17, 2014, at his residence. He was born Feb. 17, 1970, in Lima, the son of Harold âBarneyâ and Julie (Setser) Harrod. His parents survive in Wapakoneta. On April 21, 1990, he married Barbara J. Horman, and she survives.
Other survivors include, four children, Abigail (Drew) Golden, Celina, Austin Harrod, Annie Harrod, and Allison Harrod, at home; a sister, Angela (Brian) Straughn, Troy; a brother, Chet (Ashley) Harrod, Ft. Loramie; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Margie Horman, Wapakoneta; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim (Laurel) Horman, John (Lisa) Horman, Brian (Mary) Horman and Beth (Ross) Steiner; several nieces and nephews.
Jeff worked on the family farm his whole life and was part owner of the Harrod Insurance Agency. In Nov. 2012, he became a founding partner of the Harrod Insurance Services, Wapakoneta. He was a 1988 graduate of Wapakoneta High School and received the FFA State Farmer Degree and National Farmer Degree. He was also an honorary Chapter Farmer and a member of the FFA Alumni. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. His other memberships included the New Knoxville Gun Club and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie #691, Wapakoneta. He enjoyed working with his children on their fair projects and was an avid trap shooter. His other hobbies included hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and anything to do with the outdoors.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at the St. Joseph Catholic church, Wapakoneta, with Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m., Friday and 9-9:45 a.m., Saturday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta.
