The Defiance Bulldogs defeated the Wapakoneta Redskins 200-219 in a key Western Buckeye League girls golf match Monday at the Wapakoneta Country Club.
Both teams struggled. But Defiance struggled less as it pulled out the win.
“Everybody seemed kind of sluggish,” Wapak coach Dawn West said. “We were just one step behind all day.”
Shelby Kohler carded a 46 to lead the Redskins and earn medalist honors.
“Shelby played really well,” West said. “She had the opportunity to shoot even lower.”
Courtney Knippen shot a 56, followed by Bryly Beaman with a 57 and Hannah smith with a 60.
“I felt like we were high as a team,” West said. “We are not a 219 team.”
Nakea Johnson fired a 49 to lead the Bulldogs.
Wapak is now 1-3 in dual matches, 0-1 in the WBL. Defiance is 1-0 overall in duals and in the league.
