Brian Garman is slated to pitch one inning Sunday in a rehab assignment for the Milwaukee Brewers’ rookie league team in Arizona.

Garman, a Wapakoneta native, has been in Phoenix, Ariz., since July 17 in order to rehabilitate a torn labrum suffered in June. He has been on the disabled list since June 24.

The Brewers have one of 13 teams in the Arizona Rookie League.

The AZL Brewers will face the AZL Athletics at 10 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Sunday.

Garman said previously that his performance in this rehab assignment could place him on a roster late in the season somewhere in the Brewers’ minor league system.

The Stars, for instance, have less than three full weeks remaining in the regular season.

Garman last pitched June 22 for the Huntsville (Ala.) Stars, a double-A affiliate of MLB’s Milwaukee Brewers in the Southern League.

He appeared in 20 games with Huntsville before being injured.

Garman has spent parts of two seasons with Huntsville.

Garman attended the University of Cincinnati for baseball and was drafted in the 17th round of the 2010 MLB draft by the Brewers. He is a 2006 Wapakoneta High School graduate.
