Fund drive seeks to raise $10k

June 16, 2014

The Downtown Wapakoneta Partnership’s Facade Improvement Committee has set a goal to raise at least $10,000 in funding from private investors by July 31.

The fundraising campaign, which officially began May 3, was established to raise enough money to match or exceed the $10,000 grant given to the DWP by the Wapakoneta City Council for the facade improvement program.

All money raised through private and public entities will be matched by downtown business owners who apply for grant money for facade improvement.

“The goal is for this to be incremental,” Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council Executive Director Greg Myers said. “Last year resulted in $40,000 in improvements downtown, so maybe this year they can do $50,000. If you do that over a 10-year period, you’re looking at significant investments at around half a million dollars.”
