Fiscal officer leaves library

February 19, 2013

Auglaize County Public District Library Board members met in special session Monday to begin laying out the process for replacing a long-time employee.

Dana Webb, a 15-year employee for the board, announced she is leaving her position as fiscal officer for the library district. Webb accepted a position with Wapakoneta  City Schools, where she will process payroll for the school district. Her last official day will be March 15, but her last day of work due to vacation days will be March 8. She is scheduled to start her new position with the schools on March 11.

Webb said she had enjoyed her experience while working with the county library district.

“It has been a great experience,” Webb said. “I have learned a lot.”

She said she has witnessed many changes while working with the library, most notably in technology.

“Libraries are going in a new direction,” Webb said. “There have been a lot of changes, a lot of people are changing to the E-reader. The biggest changes have been in technology.”

In October 2011, Webb took on the temporary position as interim director and handled the duties of both positions for several months after the former director, Jo Derryberry, retired. Board President Pat Block said board members would like to fill the position as soon as possible, but that they will take the time required to find a good director.

“No timetable is set but we would like to fill he position as soon as possible,” Block said. “We will take the time we need to find the right person.”

The meeting Monday was held in executive session, and no immediate action was taken.

Block said Webb was a great employee and will be missed.

“She’s done a great job and was a very valuable employee,” Block said. “The books were always done well and the reports were always done accurately.”
