Baseball

RED CROSS FUNDRAISER: The American Red Cross is selling tickets for a Cincinnati Reds vs. San Diego Padres game Sunday, Aug. 14 at 1:10 p.m. The purchase of the ticket enters you into a raffle to throw out the first pitch at that game. Tickets are $25 each or four for $90. All proceeds go to The American Red Cross. Call Adam at 567-356-1501 to order tickets.

Basketball

CAMP: There will be three Lady Skins Basketball Camps. Incoming grades 3-5 will be July 11-14 from 8-11 a.m. The cost is $35. Grades 6-8 will be July 11-14 from 12:30-4 p.m. The cost is $35. And grades 1-2 will be July 18-20 from 6-8:30 p.m. The maximum cost per immediate family is $65. Each camper will receive a T-shirt. Football

CAMP: Wapakoneta varsity football coach Doug Frye will hold Frye’s Football Fundamentals Camps at Harmon Field. There will be camps for incoming grades 7-8 (July 18-20 from 1-4 p.m.), and for freshmen (July 13-15 from noon-3 p.m.). The cost for the camp is $30 and includes a shirt. Sign up ahead of time or on the first day of camp.

FLAG FOOTBALL: There will be an Alumni 7-on-7 Flag Football Tournament on Saturday, July 23. Contact Mark Law at lawma@wapak.org or call 419 739-5166 to sign up your team.

MIDGET: Cridersville Rams try-outs will be held July 25-26 from 6-8 p.m. at Tower Park in Cridersville. Try-outs are open to anyone entering grades 3-6 in the Wapakoneta City School District. If you are a second grader and interested in playing, please call Kevin Bailey at 419-645-5052. Rams Cheerleading Clinics will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. July 25-26 at Tower Park. Cheer try-outs will be held on July 27 at 6 p.m. Try-outs are open to anyone entering grades 3-6 in the Wapakoneta City School District. Contact Nicole Bailey at 419-645-5052.

OFFICIATING: The West Central Ohio Football Officials Association will conduct a training program for individuals interested in becoming licensed high school football officials. The training class will be sanctioned by the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Classes will be held on Monday and Thursday evenings August 1 thru August 29 at the Upper Valley JVS in Piqua. There will be a $75 fee which covers all materials. Students will be able to work games this Fall. Interested individuals should contact Russ Thayer at 937-335-0715 or Jerry Eberly at 937-667-1593. Registration must be completed by July 25.

Golf

CAMP: There will be a Wapakoneta Redskins golf camp for students entering grades 3-9 on July 20-22 at Wapakoneta Country Club. Grades 6-9 will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Grades 3-5 will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost for the camps is $40, payable to Wapakoneta Athletic Boosters. Running

RUN TO THE MOON 5K: The Run to the Moon 5K will be held July 16 at the Armstrong Air & Space Museum. Runners can pre-register at www.wapakymca.com. Pre-registration is $18 and includes official race T-shirt. Race-day registration is $20 with a T-shirt and $15 without. There is also a one-mile fun run. Cost for the fun run is $3. Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The race starts at 8:30. The fun run begins at 9:15. Proceeds from the race benefit the Armstrong Air and Space Museum and the Wapakoneta Chamber of Commerce. Contact Amy Kentner at 419-305-5193.

FIREMEN’S MEMORIAL 5K: The Firemen’s Memorial 5K Run-Walk will be held July 23 at Crown Pavilion in New Bremen. Runners can pre-register at www.speedy-feet.com. Pre-registration must be completed or postmarked by July 15 and is $18 with a T-shirt and $10 without. Race-day registration is $20 with a T-shirt and $12 without. There is also a one-mile fun run-walk. Cost for the fun run is $10 with a shirt and $1 without. Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The race starts at 8:30. The fun run begins at 9:15. Soccer

TOURNAMENT: The Grand Lake United Soccer Club will be holding its third-annual Kickin’ it in the Dark 3-on-3 tournament on July 29 at Veterans Park in Wapakoneta. Games begin at 7 p.m. and run through the night. There are boys and girls divisions from under-8 to over-30. (U-8 through U-10 will be completed by midnight.) Softball

TOURNAMENT: Wapakoneta Recreation is holding its 2nd annual girls softball tournament July 22-24 at Veteran’s Memorial Park. There are 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 year-old divisions. LEAGUE: The Celina Fastpitch Softball Fall League is now accepting registrations for this fall. The league is divided into two leagues, grades 6-8 and 9-12. Cost for each player is $100.
