Edith M. Stroh, 94

Edith M. Stroh, 94, of Wapakoneta, died at 2:43 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Otterbein Cridersville, from complications of a recent stroke. She was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Higgins) Kohler, who preceded her in death.  On July 9, 1942, she married Harold V. Stroh, and he survives.

Other survivors include, eight children, Rita (Jerry, deceased) Market, of Columbus, Jim (Jan) Stroh, of Hilton Head, S.C., Sue (Dave) Howe, of Wapakoneta, Judy (Joe) Lenhart, of Wapakoneta, Mary (Larry) Copeland, of Wapakoneta, Patty (Bob) Heller, of Hamilton, Mike (Peggy) Stroh, of Wapakoneta, and Diane (Bruce) Schweitzer, of Crescent Springs, Ky.; 25 grandchildren, Steve Market, Julie (Rick) Naus, Dennis Market, Ryan (April) Stroh, Chrissa (Brad) Waite, Todd (Denise) Howe, Chad (Angie) Howe, Kurt (Nikki) Lenhart, Brad (Lori) Lenhart, Jamie (Chris) Kreitzer, Shane Schlueter, Stacy (Rob) Motter, Sara (Mike) Seger, Scott (Kara) Copeland, Kimberly (Greg) Bader, Brad Copeland, Jen (Joe) Templeton, Mike (Alicia) Heller, Kim Heller, Shawn (Angela) Stroh, Stephanie (Seth) Bowersock, Katie (Matt) Cooper, Bret Schweitzer, Blaine Schweitzer and Ben Schweitzer; 32 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Joseph Schwer and Ralph Stroh; two sisters-in-law, Marge Kohler and Jean Stroh; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Art Kohler, Myron Kohler, Nellie Gault, Jim Kohler, Joe Kohler, Mary Pund, Thomas Kohler, Alice Schwer, and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Edith retired from the Wapakoneta City Schools cafeteria after 15 years of service. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta. A 1938 graduate of St. Joseph High School, she was a member of the former St. Joseph Christian Mothers Sodality. She loved wintering in Florida, gardening, playing cards, knitting and spending time with her family and friends.   

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Wapakoneta, with Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Wapakoneta. The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m., Tuesday, and 9-10 a.m., Wednesday, at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, state Route 501, Wapakoneta. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church Renovation Fund or Otterbein Cridersville Benevolent Fund. Condolences may be expressed at bayliffandeleyfh.com.
