Troopers from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a one vehicle crash that resulted in serious injuries.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:56 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Route 33 near Glynwood New Knoxville Road. The crash involved 1999 Chevrolet Blazer that was eastbound on U.S. 33. The vehicle was being operated by Kean Daniel Butler, age 21, of Mendon. Heather Antt Devall, age 25, of St. Marys was a passenger in the vehicle.
Both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle were not wearing seatbelts. Both occupants received serious injuries and were transported to Joint Township Memorial Hospital by EMS. Butler was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Piqua for further care.
Alcohol use and speed are believed to have been a factor in the crash. Seatbelt usage would have reduced the level of injuries sustained by both occupants. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
