District, teachers ink deal

June 17, 2014

The Wapakoneta City Schools Board of Education approved a three-year teaching contract by a vote of 4-0 with one abstention at a special board meeting Monday night.

The contract, which will remain effective through June 2017, is a new collective bargaining agreement that was negotiated by representatives from the district’s teacher’s union, the Wapakoneta Education Association, (WEA) and the board of education.

The board and the WEA released the following joint statement at Monday’s meeting:

“Tonight the Wapakoneta City Schools Board of Education approved a three year contract. The board and the Wapakoneta Education Association would like to express thanks and appreciation to each other for a productive, efficient, and fair negotiations process and for the commitment to working together over the past three years. We look forward to continued mutual cooperation to serve the students of the Wapakoneta City Schools and the Wapakoneta City Schools’ communities.”
