Dawn M. Plapp, 49, passed away at 2:54 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at Lima Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones after her year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born on June 19, 1965, in Lima, to Merle and Linda (Byers) Hentze. On Feb. 11, 1989, she married Kurt F. Plapp, who survives in Waynesfield.

Dawn was a bus driver and kitchen worker for Waynesfield-Goshen High School. She loved seeing the faces of her kids each and every day on her bus. She enjoyed camping, cooking and her family. She especially enjoyed watching her sons' sporting events.

Surviving are her sons, Deryk and Kameron Plapp, both of Waynesfield; her brother, Merle “Bub” Hentze, Jr., of Elida; her sister, Edith (Brian) Conn, of Elida; her father, Merle Hentze, of Elida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Hentze.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, from 2-6:30 p.m., at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services-Shawnee Chapel.

Funeral services will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Don Smith officiating. A dinner will follow the service at Rezistors M.C. at 203 W. 4th Street, Lima.

Memorial contributions can be made to establish a fund for her two boys, Deryk and Kameron.
