David Schaub, 71

David W. Schaub, 71, of Botkins, died at 5:45 p.m. Thurday, March 14, 2013, at the Wapakoneta Manor.
He was born May 30, 1941, in Botkins, the son of Alvina (Greve) and Franklin Schaub, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are three brothers, James (Beatrice) Schaub, of Wapakoneta, Paul (Sue) Schaub, of Wapakoneta, Daniel (Connie) Schaub, of Botkins; a half-brother, Bernard (Audrey) Stienke, of Florida; 3 half-sisters, Ursula Wachauf, of St. Marys, Sylvia (Urban) Schneider, of Wapakoneta, and Sally (Karl) Naseman, of Botkins; a half-brother-in-law, Elmo Hemmert, of Botkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Franklin Jr. and Emil; a half-sister, Roberta Hemmert; a half-brother and wife, Sylvester and Luella Steinke; and a half-brother-in-law, Emil Wauchauf.
A farmer, Dave worked at Airstream in Jackson Center. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Rhine. In younger years, he played basketball, baseball, and softball. He was also an avid sports fan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Rhine, with the Rev. Dan Hunt officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
There will be no public visitation.
