Darlene J. Hall, 78, of Wapakoneta, died at 11:07 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System due to complications from open heart surgery.
She was born Oct. 23, 1934, in North Baltimore, the daughter of Gladys (Nungester) and Herman C. Crow Sr., who preceded her in death. On Jan. 28, 1955, she married Carl L. Hall, and he survives.
Also surviving are four children, Carla S. (Gene) Bosurgi, of Jacksonville, Fla., Rhonda R. (Thomas) Pina, of Wapakoneta, Bruce A. Hall, of Wapaakoneta, and Tracey (Ron) Kantner, of Wapakoneta; seven grandchildren, Shannon (Bradley) Hadding, Ryan (Tiffiny) Vickers, Shelly (Michael) Nagel, Alexis (Christopher) Kline, Royce Kantner, Paul (Brittany Camper) Pina, and Kyle L. Hall; four step-grandchildren, Lucas Bosurgi, Karen Bosurgi, Todd Pina and Troy Pina; 22 great-grandchildren, and four siblings, Herman C. Crow (Kay) Jr., of Wapakoneta, Gloria (William) Herr, of Bluffton, Pamela (Preston) Place, of Spencerville, and Paul (Dawn) Crow, of Lima.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan A. Hall; and three sisters, Dolores Hanes, Alberta Gaeser, and Angela Bowersock.
Darlene worked as a bookkeeper with Irwin G.M.C., Al Bishop Auto Sales, and Warner and Swasey Co. She was a member of the Lost Creek Country Club and the Wapakoneta Country Club. She was also a member of the Shawnee United Methodist Church, and had volunteered with the St. Rita’s Medical Center Auxiliary. Darlene enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, crossword puzzles, but most especially she enjoyed spending time with her family. In her younger years, she sang in a quartet with her sisters on the Findlay radio station.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday at Shawnee Alliance Church, with the Revs.Barbara Daffler and Dr. Daniel Messner officiating. Private burial of her cremated remains will be in the St. Matthews Cemetery near Cridersville.
The family will receive friends 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, St. Rt. 501, Wapakoneta, and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
