A Lima man who has been taken into custody in Allen County is suspected of being involved in recent burglaries in Auglaize, Allen, Shelby and Logan counties.
According to a press release from the Sheriff Al Solomon, Mark Ball, 51, of Lima, was arrested by Allen County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives this week. All agencies had been working together to try and locate a suspect on a rash of house burglaries in the four counties.
With the arrest of Ball, several similarities were produced, including a similar description obtained by victims who were home while their house was entered in Auglaize County.
Detectives from Auglaize County distributed the description of the suspect to area detectives and agencies. Allen County detectives then notified Auglaize County of the suspect in custody in Allen and the similarities to the description. To date, there have been approximately 15 reported burglaries in a period of three to four weeks.
Detectives from all four counties are working together to connect Ball to the recent day time burglaries in the area.
"We have been out in force for over two weeks trying to catch who was responsible for these burglaries," Solomon said. "Numerous man hours have been spent patrolling the county. This is a great break in the case and it will help put the residents at ease. We also want to thank residents in all counties for their assistance in this investigation."
Ball is currently held in the Allen County Correctional Center and is not formally charged in Auglaize County. The investigation continues.
