Breastfeeding Week starts with mobile unit at fair

July 27, 2013

A mobile breastfeeding unit is to be at the Auglaize County Fair to help promote World Breastfeeding Week, Thursday through Aug. 7.

The Ohio Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) unit is essentially a clinic on wheels with a waiting room that accommodates six clients and room for four to five staff members. The unit is to be placed at the fairgrounds Sunday through Wednesday.

This year’s theme for World Breastfeeding Week, “Breastfeeding Support: Close to Mothers,” highlights the importance of providing support to breastfeeding families.

“The unit is an excellent tool to bring services to our community and to showcase our services,” Auglaize County WIC Director Jenny Boroff said.

She said the unit also can be utilized as a temporary clinic to provide WIC services to participants if needed.
