December 13, 2011

The Wapakoneta Redskins varsity boys bowling team took over the top spot in the West Ohio High School Bowling Conference standings after winning on Saturday at its home alley at Astro Lanes.

Wapak pushed its record to 4-0 with a 3,021-2,318 win over the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds.

The Redskins are one of four unbeaten teams left in the WOHSBC, along with the Versailles Tigers, Coldwater Cavaliers and Ottawa-Glandorf Titans. But Wapak leads the way in total pins through the four matches.

Wapak’s Austin Krites rolled a 245 for the second-high individual round of the day. He also turned in a 216.

The girls team improved to 3-1 with a 2,325-1,835 win over the Ansonia Tigers.

Haley Grieves led the way for the Redskins with a round of 199. Megan Gibson recorded a 173 and Casey Feltz chipped in with a 171.

Both teams return to action Saturday at Pla-Mor Lanes in Coldwater. The girls will bowl at 10 a.m. The boys will bowl at 1 p.m.
