Betty Winegardner, 84

Betty E. Winegardner, 84, of Waynesfield, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Gardens at Wapakoneta.
She was born Jan. 22, 1929, in Lima, to Rowena (Barnes) and Robert Wolfe. On May 29, 1948, she married Russell Winegardner, and he preceded her in death Oct. 30, 2007.
Surviving are two sons, Greg (Jill) Winegardner, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Rod (Jenny) Winegardner, of Waynesfield; three daughters, Shelia (Sam) Bush, of Stuart, Fla., Jill (Ron) Gillette, of Wapakoneta, and Julie Winegardner, of Lakeview; a sister, Lois “Sue” (Jim) Collins, of Alabama; 15 grandchildren; Tracy Liggett, Shawn Liggett, Matthew Winegardner, Dustin Winegardner, Travis Winegardner, Ashli Dennehy, Nathan Gillette, Colby Gillette, Kristen Gillette, Katrina Butler, Justine Winegardner, Caleb Winegardner, Jesselyn Winegardner, Addeline Winegardner, and Megan Byrd; 20 great-grandchildren, Skylar, Braydon, Elise, Ivan, Gena, Jayden Liggett, Maren, Mason Gregory, Adair Grace, Harper K. Winegardner, Fiona Dennehy, Taylor, Bryce, and Jaxson Butler, Ethan, Mason, and Mya Gillette, and Heidi, Evelyn, and Wyatt Byrd.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Wolfe and Robert Wolfe.
Betty was a graduate of Lima South High School and a member of Waynesfield Baptist Church, where she had served as treasurer. She volunteered at Lima Memorial Hospital for more than 16 years logging 9,657 hours. She had worked as a secretary for Cummings Insurance Agency and the Yale Law Office.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Waynesfield Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Willowbranch Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Armentrout Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Contributions may be given to Waynesfield Baptist Church or St. Rita’s Hospice.
