Betty Verneil Shepperd Keim, 86

Betty Vernell Shepperd Keim, 86, of Bellefontaine, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 10, 2013, at Logan Acres Care Center, in Bellefontaine.

Betty was born on April 18, 1926, in Gas City, Ind., the daughter of the late Nellie Hewitt and Cloyd “Happy” Clark. On Sept. 18, 1945, she married Keith A. Keim, in Gas City, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Shepperd, and brother-in-law, Glenn Keim.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Michael) Young, of Huntsville; two grandchildren, Taci Young and Mike Young; five great-grandchildren, Brooks Hodge, Christian Alltop, Ashton Karr, Austin Navarro and Aidan Navarro; two great-great-grandchildren, Mikayla Hodge and Chloe Hodge; a sister-in-law, Ruth Shepperd, of Gas City; and nieces and nephews.

Betty was a 1944 graduate of Gas City High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church on Glynwood Road, in Wapakoneta. A Past Matron of Wapakoneta Chapter 385 Order of the Eastern Star, she also was formerly active with Jobs Daughters, served as a mother adviser for Rainbow Girls and former member of the Gas City Fireman’s Auxiliary.

She enjoyed being with her family, fishing, sewing and crocheting.

The Rev. Bryan Meadows is to conduct funeral services beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, in Lakeview, with visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. An Order of Eastern Star service is to begin prior to funeral services. Entombment of cremated remains is to be in Grant Memorial Cemetery, Marion, Ind.

Memorial contributions may be given in her name to the Logan Acres Activity Fund.
