Area youth softball team headed to Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — An area youth softball team has qualified for the World Series in Orlando, Fla., which will start Saturday, July 20.

The team, Ohio Xtreme, based in Bluffton, is a 12-and-under traveling softball team in the United States Specialty Sports Association.

Local youth on the team include Carlee Hosterman, from Wapakoneta; Madison Howell, from St. Marys; Katie Goodman, from Elida; and Madison Pugh, Kara May and Kendra Johnston, from Spencerville.

The team has competed in the following tournaments: Kenton, Van Wert, Toledo Tune Up, Beavercreek and the Northern Ohio State Tournament.

Ohio Xtreme was champion at Van Wert, runner-up at Beavercreek and Kenton, fifth at the Northern Ohio State Tournament and 10th out of 22 teams in the Toledo Tune Up.

The team is seeking donations to make the trip possible.

Make donation checks payable to Erinn Prater and mail them to 750 E. College Ave., Bluffton, OH 45817. A receipt for tax purposes will be mailed back.
