St. Marys edged Wapakoneta 38-30 in a dual meet Thursday with momentum swinging back-and-forth before ending in favor of the Roughriders.
The Botkins High School girls basketball team began their game against the homestanding Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers with an aggressive pressing defense and some sharp shooting, kept the momentum going and came away with an impressive 57-39 win on Thursday night.
Botkins executed well on both ends of the court Tuesday.
The Lady Trojans defeated Fairlawn 59-33 for both its first home win and first league victory of the season.

ELIDA — The Wapakoneta bowling teams had their first WBL match of the season Tuesday, with the boys defeating Elida 2,692 to 2,501 and the girls winning 2,552 to 1,766.
FINDLAY — The Wapakoneta swim teams opened the 2017 seasons with a dual meet at Findlay Tuesday, with Findlay winning the boys meet 107-73 and the girls meet 127-57.
LIMA — The Minster Wildcats defeated St. Paul 40-7 on Friday at Lima Senior's Spartan Stadium in the Division VII state semfinals of the OHSAA football playoffs.
FINDLAY — As the postseason continues, the quality of opponents rises in difficulty.
That was the case Tuesday, as Wapakoneta fell 5-0 to Madison Comprehensive in the Region 6 semifinal of the Division II girls soccer playoffs.
