Four members of the Wapakoneta Redskins varsity girls basketball team made the Western Buckeye League’s end-of-season selections, as the WBL announced Thursday its all-league teams for the 2014-15 season.
Redskins senior forward Carly Buzzard was a first-team All-WBL choice for this season.
Wapakoneta junior point guard Maddi Stiles made the league’s second team list.
Redskins senior wing Megan Watt was a third-team choice in the WBL.
PAULDING — The Wauseon Indians rallied to take their first lead of the game midway through the fourth quarter but the Wapakoneta Redskins collected themselves and fought off the Indians' comeback effort.
Wapakoneta won 48-45 in a high school girls basketball Division II district semifinal Thursday at Paulding High School.
With the win, the Redskins advanced to the district championship game, where they will face fellow Western Buckeye League foe and four-time defending district champion, Bath. The two teams met last season in the same game.
Wapakoneta High School will be selling tournament tickets in advance for its girls and boys games.
Tickets for the girls district semifinal game Thursday against Wauseon will be on sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at WHS. Tickets for the boys game Friday against Upper Sandusky will be on sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday at WHS.
Tickets for both games cost $6 for adults and $4 for students. Tickets at the door for both games will cost $6.
WHS receives a portion of each ticket sold in advance.
COLDWATER — The Ridgemont Golden Gophers survived a valiant effort by the Waynesfield-Goshen to win a 56-55 nailbiter Tuesday in a high school boys basketball Division IV sectional semifinal at Coldwater High School.
Ridgemont's Trevor Stover led all scorers with 21 points. Collin Lowe had 14 for W-G. Cheyne Tate collected 14 rebounds for the Tigers.
