The win lifted Wapak to 8-0 on the season.
Brandon Miller picked up the win on the mound.

ACME: Apple blanks St. Henry

June 14, 2011

ST. HENRY — Wapakoneta’s Josh Apple threw just one pitch during the entire varsity baseball season.
That pitch resulted in a long fly ball during a 19-3 loss to the Minster Wildcats in mid-April.
Monday, Apple threw 79 pitches in an ACME game at St. Henry.
Those pitches resulted in a complete-game, two-hit, shutout win over St. Henry.
Apple allowed a pair of doubles, one in the second and one in the seventh, and didn’t allow a runner past second base. He struck out four and walked just two.

RACING: Hannagan outlasts Allison to win

June 14, 2011

ALLENTOWN — The first appearance of the Engine Pro NRA Sprint Invaders at Limaland Motorsports Park on Friday night provided a memorable finish as Randy Hannagan passed Tim Allison at the white flag and picked up the win.
Allison took the lead with three laps to go and held it for just two trips around before Hannagan took it back from the outside to post the win.
In the K&N UMP Modifieds feature, Tommy Beezley, in just his third Limaland appearance, took the lead from Clint Reagle on lap 5 of 20 and cruised to the win.

ACME: Wapak's Culver fans 15 in win over LCC

June 13, 2011

Sometime around the middle of Wapakoneta’s ACME baseball game against LCC on Friday night, a brisk breeze kicked up.
One could be forgiven for having a difficult time telling if the breeze came from the storm front that blew into the area or from LCC’s flailing bats.
Pitcher Chase Culver had LCC twisted in knots as he struck out 15 of the 29 batters he faced to lead Wapak to a 4-0 win at Wapakoneta High School.
“When he stays on top of his curve ball, ... it’s unhittable,” Wapak coach Willie Sammetinger said. “He has a huge break on his breaking ball.”

ACME: Wapak wins thriller

June 13, 2011

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Wapakoneta pitcher Marshall Gerlach said he knew Trey Runneals’ line shot was gone the second it left the bat.
What he didn’t know in that instant was that it would curl just outside the left-field foul pole.
Gerlach took advantage of his second chance and blew a two-strike fastball by Runneals to secure a 4-3 comeback win over Shawnee in a nail-biter ACME baseball game Thursday at Shawnee High School.
“I had a lot of adrenaline going on that last pitch, just trying to get one by him,” Gerlach said.

June 9, 2011

ROSSBURG — Ron Capps looked around from his director style folding chair with a horde of media members surrounding him, logos splashed behind him and a growing crowd filling in Eldora Speedway’s stands and marveled at the growth of the Prelude to the Dream.
Capps has driven in all seven Prelude events at the Rossburg track. When it started Capps simply hopped in another driver’s Dirt Late Model ride without much training, set-up or testing.
