Athletic Boosters host 'Drive-A-Car'

The Wapakoneta Athletic Boosters are offering an opportunity to test drive a 2015 Ford vehicle and help your favorite varsity sport at the same time. The Boosters are holding a “Drive-A-Car” event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the soccer field.

Rosemary Archer, 86, of St. Marys, died 8:05 p.m., Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, at Vancrest of St. Marys.

She was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Cridersville, Ohio, the daughter of Grover & Lizzie (Rhodes) Mayer, who preceded her in death.

Patsy Carol Brugh Hoffer, 66

October 1, 2014

Patsy Carol Brugh Hoffer, 66, of Wapakoneta, went home to her loved ones on the other side and to start her new adventure on Sept. 30, 2014.

She was born January 29, 1948, the youngest daughter of the late Frank & Margaret Hammond Brugh. She will be meeting Frank, Jr., Alleene, Raymond, Lacy, Mary, and Walter.

Karl Eugene Naseman Jr., 84

Karl Eugene Naseman Jr., 84, of Botkins, went to be with the Lord at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday Sept. 30, 2014, at Wapakoneta Manor.

He was born on December 1, 1929, in Montezuma, Ohio, to Carl Sr. & Hazel (Trippy) Naseman who preceded him in death. 

Jack Edward Peterson, 87

Jack Edward Peterson, age 87, passed away at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan, on Sept. 29, 2014, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his daughter, Robyn Ruth Scott (Dr. Norman) and his two sons, Eric Ray Peterson (Janet) and Randy Jack Peterson, two grandchildren, Briana Becker Stolley (Oliver) and John Eric Peterson (Megan) and three great grandchildren, Sophia Ruth and Samuel Logan Stolley and Nora Ann Peterson.

Fans join fight against cancer

Redskins fans will be supporting more than their home team this week with a “Pink Out” — where fans wear pink fundraising shirts in honor of cancer awareness.

The JV boys soccer game at 5 p.m. and varsity boys soccer game at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Wapakoneta High School are both dedicated to the Pink Out, in addition to the Friday night football game, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Harmon Field, Wapakoneta.

The T-shirts and sweatshirts will be available for purchase at each game. They can also be picked up at Auglaize Embroidery, Wapakoneta.

Alleged victims testify on day 2 of Workman trial

The alleged victims in the trial of Timothy Scott Workman testified Tuesday that they were certain he was the one who took naked and semi-naked photos of them in a Wapakoneta hotel room last year.

The two women, who were both residents of Rockford at the time, were under 18 years old at the time the alleged photos were taken. Workman, 44, is facing 78 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented performance or material and one count of tampering with evidence.

Wapak man arrested on voyeurism charges

Wapakoneta Police Department officers responded at 11:57 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, to 303 W. Pearl St., Wapakoneta, in regard to a report of surreptitious recordings of activities in the household.

According to a news release from Wapakoneta Police Chief Russ Hunlock, upon further investigation, Bernard W. Carver, 65, of the residence, was arrested and charged with voyeurism and public indecency. Court records show Carver was officially charged Monday with two counts of voyeurism.

‘Riders give Wapakoneta its 1st loss

ST. MARYS — The St. Marys Roughriders followed through on their game plan, scoring an early goal and sitting on the lead, against the unbeaten and state-ranked Wapakoneta Redskins.

The Roughriders prevailed to notch a 1-0 upset win Monday over the Western Buckeye League-leading Redskins in varsity boys soccer action at Roughrider Field.

“What a nice team,” St. Marys coach Dave Ring said. “Wapak is a fantastic team. We had our game plan. We got our goal and stuck to it.”

Glynwood Road project begins

Work has begun on the Glynwood Road project. According to Auglaize County Engineer Doug Reinhart, Glynwood Road from Overholser Street  in Wapakoneta west to the Buckland River Road is planned for resurfacing later this week.
