Parents of 22 children in one second-grade class at Wapakoneta Elementary School asked Wapakoneta City Schools Board of Education members for compassion in a decision affecting their children next school year.
WAYNESFIELD – A long-time presence in the Waynesfield’s municipal office will soon be leaving the building.
Waynesfield Mayor Mike Ridenour told Waynesfield Village Council members at Tuesday’s meeting that village Fiscal Officer Judith Quinlan will be retiring from her post effective Jan. 1.

An annual meeting on child fatalities in the county prompted suggestions for keeping children safer.
Auglaize County Health Commissioner Charlotte Parsons said by law they are required to meet annually to discuss the deaths of children 18 and younger who resided in the county at the time of their death.

During the armed conflicts of war, American soldiers face an unusually tough task, the guest speaker said as she honored service men and women during the Wapakoneta Memorial Day ceremony held at Veterans Memorial Park.
Auglaize County Veterans Service Office Director Lynne Skaggs, who served in the U.S. Army along with her husband, Todd, said he recently graduated college with his bachelor’s degree and received a book, Weird History 101, for his achievement.

WAYNESFIELD — At 3:11 p.m. the Waynesfield-Goshen Local Schools superintendent certified 39 seniors, to the cheers of the crowd, as having officially graduated from the school.

BLUFFTON — Seven innings wasn’t enough to determine a district champion in the Division II Bluffton District Title game.
The Wapakoneta Redskins and the Lexington Minutemen found themselves tied at 2-2 heading into extra innings. The Redskins were able to load the bases three times in late innings, but the third time turned out to be the charm for the defending-state-runner ups from Wapakoneta.
