An agreement for an online dog licensing system recently was renewed to continue to provide the service to Auglaize County residents.
Auglaize County Dog Warden Russ Bailey said the agreement with Fairfield Computer Systems doesnât just allow for residents to pay for their dog tags online, but it assists him with determining if dogs at particular addresses have tags and helps locate owners and return dogs to them when they are found.
âOnline tag sales are just a portion of it,â Bailey said.
High winds and heavy rain hit the area Sunday evening sparking tornado warning sirens to sound in Wapakoneta and the area after a tornado was reportedly spotted in southwest Auglaize County.
The storm cell caused tornado warning sirens to be activated for the Pusheta Township and Fryburg area, as well as New Knoxville, New Bremen and Minster.
Jeannette E. Sallz Hughes, 93, of Wapakoneta, died at 5:45 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at Auglaize Acres. She was born March 8, 1920, in Waynesfield, the daughter of Weaver Kelso and Maria (Lusk) Sallaz, who preceded her in death. On July 14, 1946, she married Kenneth M. Hughes, and he died Aug. 14, 1989.
Richard A. Gossett, 82, Chief Master Sgt., U.S. Air Force, retired, passed away on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lauretta Gossett.
Surviving is his loving wife and best friend of 30 years, Reecie Gossett.
Eva Annalee Cowger, 86,Â died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013.
She was born Feb. 1, 1927, in Keysor, W. Va. to Ray and Jessie (Osburn) Stump.
On Nov. 24, 1946, in Hacker Valley, W. Va., she married Evin Hubert Cowger, who died June 2, 2004.
They moved to Ohio a few years later and built their home onÂ CR 33AÂ Wapakoneta. In 2003 she moved to St. Marys where she lived on Royal Oak Drive.Â Several years later, due to failing health, she relocated to Quaker Heights Care Community Waynesville, Ohio.
Margaret V. Aufderhaar, 92, formerly of 320 Market Street, St. Marys, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
She was born Sept. 28, 1921, near New Knoxville, the daughter of Cornelius and Alma (Vordermark) Henkener.
She married Walter Aufderhaar on Feb. 2, 1947, and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2003.
John J. Truax, 89, of rural Spencerville, died at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, in the Roselawn Manor Nursing Home, in Spen-cerville, following a brief illness.
John E. Quellhorst, 64, of Blaine, Minn., passed away suddenly on Oct. 28, 2013.
John was born on July 21, 1949, in Celina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Emily Quellhorst, and a nephew, Mark.
John will be deeply missed by Sharon Quellhorst; his daughter, Stacey Quellhorst; grandchildren, Alayna, Kolten, Kayla and unborn grandson, Liam; great-grandson, Xzavior; brother, Michael (Tanna); niece, Michelle; cousins; and extended family and friends.
A Wapakoneta woman and three Cridersville residents were among nine drug-related arrests made Friday morning after several months of investigation by the Auglaize/Mercer County Grand Lake Drug Task Force.
Joining members of the Task Force in making the arrests were officers from the Wapakoneta, St. Marys, and Cridersville police departments, and members of the Allen County Drug Task Force, who served the indictments from the Auglaize County Grand Jury.
A bipartisan, bicameral effort is underway to reauthorize legislation to reduce crime by helping people released from prison re-enter society and the work force.
